A time for deep development of thought and proper moral guidance.
The life of a middle schooler is special at St. Catherine. From engaging extra curricular activities, athletics and student clubs, to taking on more responsibilities around the school (such as raising the flag that hangs high above our school each morning).
Academic studies for 6th-8th grade prepare every child to achieve their greatest possible accomplishments in life—but also with each day—whether it be spending dedicated time writing an essay or leading the class in prayer.
Service and leadership opportunities are possible for our students, some in coordination with the city of New Haven.
Our 8th graders end their year with a trip to Washington, D.C., where they can witness the grand monuments of the American heritage. What they learn in history class comes to life and they also gain a better understanding of the Catholic tradition by visiting the National Basilica, the largest shrine in North America.
8th grade also prepares for Confirmation in their religion class, for students who are interested in making this big step in life.
Students leave St. Catherine Academy as commendable adolescents, knowing they are loved by God, and ready to contribute to their community.
